You Can Change 2 Counseling was opened in 2015 based upon the idea of treating the whole person; body, mind, and soul.

 

 

Dani uses a holistic approach including mindfulness meditation, essential oils, nutrition, and exercise to treat mental health issues. Dani works with the community as needed to coordinate care with outside referrals including medical wellness, and psychiatric care.

 

Dani treats addiction disorders including substance abuse, and gambling addiction. Dani also treats mental health disorders including bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is used to treat many various disorders including Borderline Personality Disorder.

 

Dani works closely with the criminal justice system allowing her to help a client navigate his or her way through completion of criminal justice required counseling, and evaluations. Dani has worked with courts, parole and probation, and lawyers to properly diagnose and treat addiction and mental health issues.

 

Dani began working in the field of addiction in 2004 as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor, intern; her career began in the Nevada State prison system. Dani later worked in residential alcohol, drug, and gambling treatment centers, and has also worked in the Washoe County Jail. In 2006 Dani began treatment of gambling addiction later becoming a Certified Problem Gambling Counselor at a state level, and an Internationally Certified Gambling Counselor level 2, while also obtaining credentialing as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Dani continued her practice in counseling while obtaining a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and expanded to the treatment of mental health issues in 2015.

 

In 2014 Dani obtained her certification as a Forensic Addictions Counselor. In 2018, she obtained both her Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counseling, and Clinical Professional Counseling credentials. She began pursuit of a Doctorate in Professional Counseling in 2016 and worked on a dissertation based upon women whom have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, Substance Use Disorder, and have been arrested for driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Dani completed her doctoral program in 2020.  Dani is also a part time faculty member at Truckee Meadows Community College teaching Counseling and Personal Development (CPD 116).
